Everytime I come to make a compilation list of the best motivational speakers I always start out with some rudimentary requirements. I always think to myself “what is it that makes a good motivational speaker?” In my opinion, to be considered as one of the best motivational speakers, one would need to have a clear message which is easily accessible. Moreover, one would need to be eloquent and charismatic. Charisma can be embodied in many forms; for example, one can be charismatic on stage by having excellent stage presence and energy which will make the audience enjoy what they are listening to. On the other hand, charisma can be exhibited in the research that one has done in order to put on the best possible event. Furthermore, I like to think that the best motivational speakers would be able to incorporate humour into their presentations so that their audience can further enjoy the experience in its entirety. In summary, the best motivational speakers are those who make events seem like more than just a mundane event; they bring a certain aura to an event which can transform it into a life-changing experience.

The following speakers have earned themselves a place on my list of the best motivational speakers:

  1. Tony Robbins
  2. Suze Orman
  3. Bear Grylls
  4. Mel Robbins
  5. Mark Pollock
  6. Doug Lipp
  7. Amy Purdy
  8. Darren Hardy
  9. Grant Cardone
  10. Cathy O’Dowd

I would just like to focus briefly on one person on the list – Cathy O’Dowd. The reason that Cathy O’Dowd has made it onto my list is because she does just as she sets out to do: she is able to “do what has never been done before” and “tackle the unknown”. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Cathy, she is a world-renowned climber and motivational speaker. The reason that she is so good at speaking is because she is able to channel her life adventures in such a way as to help business people overcome difficulty. She says, for example, that “Everest is far more than just the world’s highest mountain. It is a universal symbol of challenge and achievement.” The use of personal case studies creates a heart-warming effect and means that they audience will truly focus on her message. She is, in my opinion, one of the best at transmitting a message based on personal experience.
