The most important motivational speeches of all time are more often than not the ones which entail political or racial liberation, and they are delivered by people who are figureheads of movements which define the future of many people. Two speeches which can be seen as the most important motivational speeches of all time are Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech during the black Civil Rights Movement and Nelson Mandela’s speech in court during the Apartheid.
One of the most important motivational speeches of all time came from Martin Luther King in 1963 and this speech set out a goal for King and the other black people involved with the Civil Rights Movement to move away from the segregation and violence which the black people faced and to move towards a more integrated society where everyone was treated as equals. Martin Luther King said, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of the skin, but by the content of their character.” At this time some black people were being made to eat, live and learn differently and the worldwide attention which this received massively impacted the lives of black people in a positive way. In 1957, four black students attempted to enrol at Little Rock high school and they were met by physical threats and they were barricaded in by white protestors but luckily they escaped with the help of the authorities. Events such as these built up and led to the speech in 1963 which raised awareness worldwide. These events in the USA can be order tramadol online seen as the reason why black people now live more equal lives. This speech is one of the most important motivational speeches of all time because it motivated people to change their ways and their treatment of black people.
Another similar situation occurred during the Apartheid in South Africa which was the racial separation which started in the 1940’s and didn’t end till the early 1990’s. Nelson Mandela’s motivational speech in the court, before he was sent to prison in 1964, can be seen as one of the most important motivational speeches ever, because even though he was given a life sentence, he still gave an incentive to the rest of the black population of South Africa to try and change the system in South Africa. Although it took a lot of time, his selfless speech was worth it in the end. In his speech, he said he was “prepared to die” to get freedom for the black people of South Africa. Until the 1990’s the rugby and cricket teams of South Africa had no black people but now black people can and often do play. This is just one of the examples of the effects Mandela had on the country and the changes highlight how Mandela’s speech was one of the most important motivational speech of all time.
