As we all know, society was dominated by men for many years. The patriarchal dominance within society is, arguably, still present; however, we can see that more and more women are receiving equal treatment. More women are succeeding in high-end businesses, more women are succeeding in governmental positions and more women are succeeding as motivational speakers. Female motivational speakers are very successful in the modern world due to their ability to deliver clear presentations which appeal to a wide variety of people. Moreover, the best women are able to be successful motivational speakers due to an inner drive which propels them towards success. I think that women are only now receiving the credit which they truly deserve and we must continue to raise the profile of female motivational speakers in the hope that more women become interested in the field. This will allow us to sustain a continuous flow of successful female speakers. Let us now explore the works of some of the most successful women in the world of motivational speaking.

Amy Purdy is one of my favourite female motivational speakers because she is able to inspire people with her exceptionally challenging life story. For those of you who are unaware of what she has experienced, Amy faced a life-threatening illness known as meningococcal meningitis. As a result of this illness, Amy lost both of her legs below the knee. Following this procedure, one would expect an individual to spiral into a vicious cycle of mental trauma, but Amy was able to overcome the difficulty which she faced. Amy challenged herself to move on and achieve what she wanted in life. Amy’s positive outlook led her to olympic success and also led to the development of her career as a model and motivational speaker. Amy is so good because she is able to channel her suffering and difficulties in life into things which motivate her to be better. She is subsequently able to share this message with her audiences around the globe, thus inspiring millions of people to be better versions of themselves.

Another inspiring women in the world of motivational speaking is Erin Gruwell. She is a woman who initially begun her career as a teacher of children whom she realised had difficulty sharing their feelings. As a result Erin took measures such as giving the children journals which enabled them to open up. Now, Erin is using her methods to reach students no matter how difficult their lives may be. Erin is a prime example of an attentive and hard-working individual who is willing to go to extreme measures in order to help others. Everytime I come to make a compilation list of the best motivational speakers I always start out with some rudimentary requirements. I always think to myself “what is it that makes a good motivational speaker?” In my opinion, to be considered as one of the best motivational speakers, one would need to have a clear message which is easily accessible. Moreover, one would need to be eloquent and charismatic. Charisma can be embodied in many forms; for example, one can be charismatic on stage by having excellent stage presence and energy which will make the audience enjoy what they are listening to. On the other hand, charisma can be exhibited in the research that one has done in order to put on the best possible event. Furthermore, I like to think that the best motivational speakers would be able to incorporate humour into their presentations so that their audience can further enjoy the experience in its entirety. In summary, the best motivational speakers are those who make events seem like more than just a mundane event; they bring a certain aura to an event which can transform it into a life-changing experience.

The following speakers have earned themselves a place on my list of the best motivational speakers:

  1. Tony Robbins
  2. Suze Orman
  3. Bear Grylls
  4. Mel Robbins
  5. Mark Pollock
  6. Doug Lipp
  7. Amy Purdy
  8. Darren Hardy
  9. Grant Cardone
  10. Cathy O’Dowd

I would just like to focus briefly on one person on the list – Cathy O’Dowd. The reason that Cathy O’Dowd has made it onto my list is because she does just as she sets out to do: she is able to “do what has never been done before” and “tackle the unknown”. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Cathy, she is a world-renowned climber and motivational speaker. The reason that she is so good at speaking is because she is able to channel her life adventures in such a way as to help business people overcome difficulty. She says, for example, that “Everest is far more than just the world’s highest mountain. It is a universal symbol of challenge and achievement.” The use of personal case studies creates a heart-warming effect and means that they audience will truly focus on her message. She is, in my opinion, one of the best at transmitting a message based on personal experience. Trying to sell something is always hard because you have to have a lot of knowledge of the good or service which you are trying to get people to consume. Not only do you require knowledge of the good or service, but you will also require knowledge about the current consumer interests and the state of the market or industry in which you are selling. If these are the troubles of a seller or producer of a good, you can understand the difficulty that a sales motivational speaker must go through, since it is their job to inspire people to be the best sellers possible. They must have an in-depth knowledge of industries and goods to succeed. But, and arguably most importantly, they require an in-depth knowledge of people in order to allow their message to sink in and effect as many people as possible. Let us explore, therefore, some of my top tips for sales motivational speakers in order to help the spreading of messages in an effective and efficient manner.

My first tip for a sales motivational speaker is to be prepared for any situation. This sounds like a near-impossible task, but on further analysis you will realise why it is not so hard. To be prepared for any situation, one requires a method of motivating any audience. This method needs to be universally accessible and understandable. This method also must be fluid so that it can be tailored to any industry. One way of doing this is by having a core principle which you can take to any company or event which will help them regardless of their situation. It is of course true that this sort of universally accepted mantra is hard to acquire, but one must accept this if one wishes to be a sales motivational speaker. It will require lots of market research and background reading in order to learn from past mistakes or failures so that you can develop the perfect recipe for business success.

A sales motivational speaker must also understand what it means to be a seller. Too often is it the case where people focus on the product or service and actually forget how to sell  the good. The primary way of selling is through raising attention for a brand. This can be done by having an effective marketing technique; the most effective marketing campaigns use social media as a means to financial success and are not afraid to seek the help of influencers. Motivational sales speakers must be keep this in mind if they wish to help people generate sales.

In summary, sales motivational speakers need to be aware of the industry in which they are in and the financial climate at the time. They must also be charismatic and enthusiastic characters who have a special way of enticing audiences. Have you ever noticed how certain terms just get thrown around when nobody really understands them? I can certainly say that I have been guilty of and on the receiving end of such actions. This issue is particularly prevalent in the field of motivational speaking and happens quite often with the term “speaking agency”. A speaking agency, or a speaker’s bureau, is a company which is responsible for providing clients with speakers for events. A speaking agency will often deal with motivational speakers, conference facilitators or keynote speakers (to name a few types of speakers). It is, therefore, fair to say that a speaking agency is essentially a provider of speakers; it could deal with a vast array of clients who need speakers for their events and is responsible for seeking the best talent available. Some of the best known speaking agencies include The London Speaker’s Bureau or Speakers Corner. These sorts of organisations are always seeking to find new talent, therefore I would like to explore the way in which you could attract the attention of a speaking agency.

The easiest way to get picked up by a speaking agency is by having a message. A speaking agency will be looking for an individual with a poignant message who they will believe will attract them lots of clients. Therefore, it is essential for speakers to develop their messages such that they are easily accessible by all people regardless of their age, gender, class or race (and so on and so forth). Most speakers use simple, short phrases as vessels of transmitting their clear and straightforward message. This is, in my opinion the most effective method of landing a contract with a speaking agency. If you attempt to attract attention with a long and convoluted message, you are nowhere near as likely to do so because people will find it hard to remember what it is that you said to them.
Another key to landing a gig with a speaking agency is to always be prepared and ready to go. If, for example, you are planning to deliver a keynote speech about a new device, make sure that you know all the key details well in advance so that you can prepare effectively and efficiently. By doing so, you are preparing to succeed and are limiting your chances of missing key details. Organization is key in all disciplines; however, it is vital when attempting to be a motivational speaker because it will allow you the best chance to get your presentation ready and avoid the drama of not being prepared. The best inspirational speakers will all have certain traits in common. Often, the best inspirational speakers tend to be able to connect on a personal level with their audience almost instantly. The reason for the almost instantaneous relationship is due to the background research that the best inspirational speakers will have conducted prior to their presentations. The best inspirational speakers will have researched the type of audience that they are speaking to, therefore meaning that they are able to tailor their presentations to each given group. This means that their message will not only correspond with the desires and needs of the audience, but it will also resonate in their heads because it is something which they have been searching for. This is, however, only one of the strings on the jam-packed bow of the best inspirational speakers. Let us thus explore some of the common traits of the inspirational speakers.

As well as being able to connect due to extensive research, the best inspirational speakers are able to connect with their audiences due to their impressive speaking skills. For example, they will be able to speak eloquently meaning that their message is always clear and never clouded by an artificial layer of confusion. Moreover, they will use specific linguistic devices to ensure that their message is actively absorbed by the audience. Now, this may sound somewhat complex, but I can assure you that this is not the case. It simply requires things order generic tramadol such as repeating key phrases, asking questions to the audience and changing one’s speaking pace. These three examples are very basic skills – which everyone has the capacity for – but they are able to stimulate mental exercise in the head of an audience member. This means that the audience member is actively absorbing the information that the speaker is delivering to them. As such, the message is clearly embedded in the audience members brain. In sum, through simple linguistic devices and clever language tricks, the best inspirational speakers are able to imprint their messages into the brains of their audience members. It must be noted, however, that this requires years of practice. It also requires a clear message and one which is succinct enough to embed itself in the brain.
Inspirational speakers also have the capacity for many other skills; they are, for example, excellent story tellers or even have the ability to diffuse tension with comedy. All of these traits are what make the best motivational speakers who they are. The primary thing that separates a good speaker from the best speaker is desire. By this I mean desire for success; the best inspirational speakers have a strong desire for success and will not stop until they get it. That is what makes them so good. Most motivational speakers, these days, have websites which advertise them and their services. This is pretty smart considering that the a large proportion of people spend their days on the internet searching for new and exciting things. The problem is, however, that most motivational speakers do not have new and exciting things on their websites. Instead, they seem to be bland, and uninteresting. To avoid being in this state of boringness, there are a few things that motivational speakers ought to include on their websites. These things will allow them to excel and be described as “trendy”. I personally believe that the best way to succeed is by having good social and internet presence, so by having the best possible website you are improving your chances of success.

The first thing that motivational speakers ought to include on their websites is videos. Now, these do not need to be particularly lengthy videos, rather they just need to be videos which promote what it is you do, and how you do it. Most internet consumers want to know – as soon as possible – what a person does and how they do it, so if you can provide them with this information via the medium of video, you are more likely to satisfy their needs and raise your popularity. Some people tend to post the actual videos on their website, whereas others have links to their YouTube channels. Either way, ensure that it is highly visible to anyone who may want to see it, because the last thing you want is for somebody to miss out on your videos all together. That would, well and truly, be a disaster.

The second thing that motivational speakers ought to include on their website is precise content which presented in a creative way. This means that you ought to avoid having long paragraphs of text and instead use key quotations or short bullet points. This way, you can avoid boring your reading and you can also easily get your message across. As for creativity, this can be the style of your website i.e. the way you transition from page to another or the colour scheme used. For a lot of consumers, they want to enjoy their experience online so if you can provide them with something truly enjoyable you will be heading in the right direction.

In conclusion, a website is a vital thing for a motivational speaker. For all you motivational speakers out there, use your website smartly: promote yourself, and keep it cool. Lots of people will attend motivational seminars and be somewhat passive in their observations. They may listen to seminars and presentations, go to a few panel talks and then leave; however, in doing so they are not making the most of their experience. Just as the motivational speakers themselves prepare, anyone who goes to motivational seminars ought to prepare themselves for the experience – this will allow them to maximise the amount of things they learn. Moreover, it is vital to be passive when attending motivational seminars because it will allow you to make the most for them. Merely going to a motivational seminar and being passive will leave you feeling somewhat underwhelmed and will most certainly leave your uninformed. I would, therefore, like to share my two top tips for what to do if you are going to motivational seminars.

My first tip for going to motivational seminars is to prepare before you go. Sounds simple enough, right? By preparing, you allow yourself the best chance to know who you are going to be listening to. Moreover, you will have a general gist of what their messages are which will allow you to strengthen your understanding when you are actually at the event. Furthermore, by being more prepared than others beforehand, you can already have questions which you may want answered by the speakers themselves. Essentially, I am preparing you so that you can get the most information from the talks that you hear. I, like many of you, have been passive through many seminars and have not learned a lot from them. When I was active, however, I learned a great deal more and was all the more satisfied when I left the event. The simplest way to prepare yourself is to browse through the speakers list and visit a few of their websites so you can have a broad insight into what it is that they specialize in.

My second piece of advice is to be active, not passive. What I mean by this is when you are listening to a seminar speaker, actively mull over what they are saying to you, rather than passively accepting what they say as truth. By thinking actively, you allow yourself to take on the information which you find useful, and forget the things that you find irrelevant. Moreover, if you were to passively accept everything, you are more likely to be disappointed when certain methods fail for you. By actively thinking, therefore, you avoid disappointment.

I hope that these tips will be useful for all of you who will be going to any motivational seminars. Most of all, however, make sure you enjoy the experience! A corporate speaker is one who delivers seminars and speeches at corporate events. A motivational speaker is one whose job it is to inspire and motivate people into living their best life and (or) change their life for the better. At first glance, it may seem that these two types of people will only have one thing in common – they both need to speak. However, the person who thinks this is mistaken, for they have not acknowledged the fact that both corporate and motivational speakers must organise, prepare and deliver presentations. The professions, therefore, do not just require speaking, but years of research, practice, linguistic development and so on and so forth. I would just like to highlight some of the common traits that both corporate and motivational speakers may share.

First of all, both corporate speakers and motivational speakers are performers. What I mean by this is that they must perform – via spoke word – to an audience in the hope that they can get their message across in the best and most effective way. This does not, however, require music, dance or any such performance art. Rather, it requires immense persuasive skills and a knowledge of the good or service, or message, that they are trying to promote. The best way of ensuring that this box is ticked is by meeting with the company owners or event organizers so that you can get an idea  of just who or what you will be talking to or about. This will allow you to personalize your talk in whichever way you feel best. The analogy I would use is an exam: a lack of preparation of material will make you feel out of place when you enter an exam hall. The same applies for a speaker: a lack of preparation i.e. not knowing who or what you are talking to and about will leave you in a tricky position.

Secondly, corporate and motivational speakers must both be able to sustain the attention of a crowd. This can come through knowing your audience, however the primary way of assuring this is by making sure that you have top quality content and lots of it. Personal anecdotes, comedic stories and regular summaries will ensure that you maintain your audience’s attention, whilst also allowing you an easy way to get your message across.

I hope that you can now see – if you could not already – the clear links between being a motivational speaker and being a corporate speaker. Corporate speakers are often highly sought-after individuals due to their ability to sell, inspire, motivate and entertain large audiences. Their infectious personalities make them excellent speakers because they are able to relate to audiences so easily. This is not, however, an innate skill (or at least I do not think it is!). Rather, it is the result of years of practice and market research; that is why corporate speakers are so good. It goes back to that age-old saying: to be the best, you have got to act like the best. This is certainly a common trait amongst corporate speakers, because they are truly hardworking, dedicated and amusing individuals who have an exceptional ability to entertain a crowd. How is it, though, that they are so good? What are the traits of the best corporate speakers? I think it is rather simple, and I would like to explore it in this post.

The first common trait amongst corporate speakers is a genuine passion for their field. Without this passion, the speakers would not half as good as they are. They have a genuine thirst for knowledge of the corporate world which makes them seem entirely in love with the idea of anything corporate. This is reflected in their presentations because they are able to present with enthusiasm, charisma and a genuine passion. This, in turn, will have a profound effect on any audience members because they will feel a strong connection with a speaker who is engaging and entertaining. As a result, they are highly likely to retain the information they have given, therefore making the presentation a success. Such easy success can stem from a simple thing – passion.

As well as being passionate, the best corporate speakers must be highly organised and time-aware. Being organised will allow them to produce concise and precise presentations which are tailored to all the needs, worries and questions that a consumer may have. Time-awareness means that they will never be running out of sync with their schedule, which allows them to be efficient and proactive. Of course, organisational skills are vital in any discipline; however, they are essential in the realm of corporate speakers because it can be such a demanding profession.

In summary, the legend of corporate speakers is an interesting tale which I recommend exploring. A rewarding, challenging and stimulating profession such as corporate speaking should be considered by one and all.
